Harshith Bachimanchi
University of Gothenburg, Sweden
Harshith is a PhD student whose research combines holographic microscopy and deep learning to advance our understanding of marine microorganisms. His academic journey began with an integrated Bachelor's-Master's program in physics, where he focused on experimental non-linear optics. Since starting his PhD in 2020, Harshith has merged his expertise in experimental optics with deep learning techniques to track and analyze both biological and synthetic particles. His PhD work includes developing holographic microscopy integrated with deep learning, enabling the long-term tracking of marine microplankton, including events such as cell divisions and inter-species predation. Additionally, he has created simulations and tutorials that demonstrate the practical applications of deep learning in microscopy. Moving forward, Harshith is passionate about continuing to blend experimental and computational approaches, aiming to address some of the most challenging problems in biophysics.
