In 2003 Karen Hogg was tempted by the scope of a job in Imaging & cytometry (I&C) at the newly created Bioscience Technology Facility and since then she has never looked back. She is now a Senior Research Technical Professional and her role is to underpin the scientific service within I&C as well as take a lead role in the research, operation and method development of cell sorting and cytometry analysis. Karen has the privilege of working with an amazing team. She enjoys her job as it is so varied working with researchers and all kinds of samples from within the University and beyond. Most recently having the fantoastic opportunity to work in Uganda, Kenya, Sudan and Ethiopia. Karen is a co-organizer (and tutor) on flow cytometry courses, Hands on and Virtual. She was awarded the RMS medal for Flow Cytometry in 2016 and is currently the Vice Chair of the RMS Flow Cytometry section. In her spare time, she supports local schools as a Governor.
