Sustainability Statement

The Society is working on the continuous improvement of its sustainability credentials.

For some time, we have worked on reducing our carbon footprint by:

  • reducing plastic use with recyclable name badges
  • removing the use of single use items given away at meetings
  • resources printed on sustainably sourced paper
  • choosing suppliers with clear sustainability policies
  • reducing the number of in-person committee and group meetings to reduce the amount of travel required

Current initiatives include moving our quarterly magazine online, continuing to host many of our meetings online, discontinuing the printing of course materials and event programmes (online only), considering packaging of our resources, as well as increasing our use of meat-free catering and sustainable venues.

We have reduced the amount of printing associated with our events, turning to online solutions, and have reduced or removed as much plastic and single use items as possible. With this in mind, we will no longer be printing event booklets rather sending them out as an online resource prior to our events.

We also actively encourage the companies who are supporting our events, to help us by also reduce the amount of printed materials and single use or plastic giveaways that they provide during our events.
