Electron Microscopy (EM) is a crucial set of technologies used for imaging materials and studying their properties, particularly at the smallest scales. This capability plays a vital role in research across multiple disciplines, spanning both the physical and biological sciences.

The Midlands region is recognised for its strength in Electron Microscopy, with Midlands Innovation universities housing a robust collection of state-of-the-art EM facilities, advanced instrumentation, and operational expertise.

To acknowledge and build upon this strength, we have established the Midlands Innovation Electron Microscopy Network (MI EM). This network aims to bring together and celebrate the regional expertise in EM, serving as a forum to share best practices, disseminate information, and coordinate regional initiatives related to research, training, and funding opportunities.   Following the success of our inaugural event at the University of Leicester in 2024, the 2025 Mi EM Facilities Conference will take place on Tuesday 15th April 2025, hosted at Cranfield University. This conference is aimed at EM Facility staff and EM focused academics. The deadline for registration will be Thursday 3rd April.  There is no registration fee and lunch will be provided by Midlands Innovation. A full agenda will follow at a later date.
