The expansion microscopy user group brings together researchers to share experiences to enable rapid uptake of the technology.
At this meeting...
We will be joined by Invited Speaker Dr. Ramiro Tomasina who'll be presenting his talk 'From Trypomastigotes to Trypomastigotes: Analyzing the One-Way Intracellular Journey of Trypanosoma cruzi by Ultrastructure Expansion Microscopy'.
Dr. Ramiro Tomasina is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo, Uruguay, and an assistant professor in the Department of Parasitology and Mycology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of the Republic. He is also a member of Uruguay's National Researcher System. His research focuses on host-pathogen interactions, with a particular emphasis on Chagas disease and cell division in Toxoplasma gondii.
Dr. Tomasina completed his PhD in 2023 at the University of the Republic, where he studied centrosomal proteins in Toxoplasma gondii .Following his PhD, he joined the Host-Pathogen Interaction Laboratory at the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo, led by Dr. Carlos Robello. The Robello Lab is a diverse research group dedicated to studying the parasites Trypanosoma cruzi, Leishmania spp., Toxoplasma gondii, and Neospora caninum, as well as the host's response to infection. Since joining the lab, Dr. Tomasina has worked on topics ranging from fundamental cell biology to studies involving animal models.
The group is open to anyone interested including all career stages and levels of experience with expansion microscopy.
This series of meetings is organised in conjunction with Canada BioImaging (CBI) and BioImaging North America (BINA).
