RMS saddened to learn of death of Phil Robinson
The RMS was saddened to learn of the death of Phil Robinson, who was an instrumental figure within the Society for many years spanning the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s.
A highly respected scientist and popular character within the light microscopy community, Phil was a former RMS Council member and also served as Chair of the Light Microscopy Committee.
Phil was well known for his teaching role on several RMS courses during the 1980s, and for his authorship of the RMS handbook, Qualitative Polarized Light Microscopy, which was published in 1992. He will also be fondly remembered for volunteering his time and expertise at the MICRO meetings (now the mmc Series), where he ran the AV slide check facilities alongside Don Thomson.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to Phil’s family and friends.
