Join a new Focussed Interest Group (FIG) for Histology!
The RMS is appealing for prospective members to join a new and exciting Focussed Interest Group (FIG) for histology.
Plans for the group have been put forward by Steven J. West, head of histology at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre, University College, with the aim of bringing together like-minded professionals and helping to shape the future of the field.
Steven said: “This FIG will create an exciting platform for histologists to collaborate, innovate, and share best practices in histochemistry and microscopy. By signing up, you’ll be part of a supportive network of professionals working to enhance the quality of histological research and data. This really is an incredible opportunity to collaborate, innovate, and make a lasting impact in the field of histology.”
The aims of the FIG will include:
- Building a resource network: Creating a comprehensive directory of people, places, and equipment to foster collaboration and support research efforts.
- Defining best practices: Sharing guidelines for histochemical experiments to improve the quality of microscopy data and the execution of histological techniques.
- Streamlining processes: Exploring ways to enhance histochemical experiments through automation or parallelisation, boosting efficiency and throughput.
- Standardising and sharing data: Promoting data standardisation and sharing via online platforms, enabling meta-analyses and deeper insights into biological tissue structures.
Anyone interested in joining the group should email jade@rms.org.uk by 28 February 2025 to express their interest.
