Are you looking to enhance your scientific presentation skills and advance your career?
The BioImagingUK and UK Physics of Life Networks are pleased to announce a specialised coaching program designed to empower women in bioimaging and biophysics to excel in scientific presentations and conference talks.
Despite significant advances in gender equality, the pool of women submitting abstracts for oral presentations at scientific conferences remain underrepresented, which can impact career progression. Our program aims to address this imbalance by providing tailored training and support to boost confidence, develop presentation skills, and foster long-term peer networks.

- One-Day In-Person Workshop at the IOP in London with specialised training from a professional communicator on 27 June or 10 July 2025
- Individual Virtual Coaching Session tailored to your specific presentation needs and research focus

- Opportunity to Present at upcoming BioImagingUK or UK Physics of Life annual meetings
- Financial Support for attending the training workshop and a subsequent network meeting
Who Should Apply
This program is specifically designed for women in bioimaging, biophysics, and related fields who:
- Are at any career stage from PhD student to established researcher
- Want to improve their scientific presentation skills and confidence
- Have upcoming opportunities to present their research
- Are committed to participating in both the workshop and follow-up activities
We particularly encourage applications from those who have previously hesitated to apply for oral presentations at conferences.
Selection Criteria
Applications will be evaluated by a panel of experts from BioImagingUK and PoLNET based on:

- Commitment to sharing knowledge with peers
- Diversity of research backgrounds and career stages

Complete the application form and submit with the following materials:
- CV (maximum 2 pages)
- Abstract of your current research work (300 words maximum)
- Letter of recommendation from a supervisor or colleague
- Statement of program expectations (500 words maximum)
- Confirmation of financial support to attend an external conference
