Open Call for members of a new RMS Histology Focussed Interest Group

Join the New RMS Histology Focused Interest Group (FIG): Connect, Collaborate, and Innovate!

Are you passionate about histology? Looking to connect with like-minded professionals, share expertise, and help shape the future of the field? We’re thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new RMS Focused Interest Group (FIG) for Histology, chaired by Steven J. West head of histology at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre, University College London!

This FIG will create an exciting platform for histologists to collaborate, innovate, and share best practices in histochemistry and microscopy. By signing up, you’ll be part of a supportive network of professionals working to enhance the quality of histological research and data.

What’s the focus of this exciting new group?

Our mission is to:

• Build a resource network: Create a comprehensive directory of people, places, and equipment to foster collaboration and support research efforts.

• Define best practices: Share guidelines for histochemical experiments to improve the quality of microscopy data and the execution of histological techniques.

• Streamline processes: Explore ways to enhance histochemical experiments through automation or parallelization, boosting efficiency and throughput.

• Standardize and share data: Promote data standardization and sharing via online platforms, enabling meta-analyses and deeper insights into biological tissue structures.

What does signing up mean?

• Your expertise and resources securely logged: As a member, your areas of expertise and details about your lab equipment will be included in a secure database. Access to this valuable resource will be available to you and potential collaborators across the RMS, to help researchers connect with the tools and knowledge they need.

• Stay informed: Receive updates about FIG activities, events, and resources to keep you connected to the latest developments in the field.

• Invitation to working group meetings: All members will be invited to participate in virtual working group meetings (held at least three times a year). Attendance is entirely optional, so you can engage at a level that works for you.

Why join?

• Be part of a thriving community of histologists.

• Contribute to the future of histology through collaboration and shared expertise.

• Access a supportive community with shared resources, tools, and knowledge to enhance your work.

• Engage on your terms—participate as much or as little as your schedule allows.

If you’re ready to join this transformative initiative, email jade@rms.org.uk by 28 February 2025 to express your interest.

Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to collaborate, innovate, and make a lasting impact in the field of histology!
