Equipped with a confocal microscope (Leica SP8 with heated chamber), a Leica DMI6000 with motorised stage and live imaging chamber, and a Nikon Eclipse Ni-E upright microscope with dual-mode camera capable of bright field, fluorescence, reflected and polarised light imaging. The facility also includes multiple routine imaging systems.
All are designed and run to be as simple as possible for all users to obtain the best possible data.
Beyond the Imaging Suite facility, the RVC’s Camden campus also contains a Skyscan 1172F microCT scanner, a Tecan SparkCyto imaging plate reader and a BD FACSCanto II flow cytometer, among other systems.

As a veterinary core facility, we routinely image a wide range of sample types. We cover scales from the subcellular to the organism and a wide range of species.

Sample Preparation

A wide range of sample preparation techniques for light microscopy are available to our staff and students through our Camden histology facility and Hawkshead diagnostic laboratories alongside the sample preparation carried out in each individual research laboratory.
